Those stats are from 2006-2008, pretty much pre this recession.
I read somewhere that Norwich have fared better than other places because they've lost no 'big' employers. (This probably explains the 6th place in the lowest rise in the JSA claiming list.
(Mind you, I failed my Economics A Level so this could all be rubbish.)
One stat worth noting is that Ipswich is the second bottom 'city' with the lowest percentage of high skills. Teehee!
