watching on the link - saw Lappin, when he got subbed, doing a double fist pump with clenched teeth as he left the pitch. He looked like we were about to win a trophy or something.

And I realised -of course, the City players really, really wanted that. They must have been properly humiliated after the home game. Even those, like Lappin, or Smith, who didn't play, must still have got the piss taken out of them for ages afterwards. (It was bad enough for us fans...)

Whereas that motivation just wasn't there in the same way for the colyoo players, was it? Especially since they've done just as well under the new manager as they were under the old one.

I reckon ours wanted it a lot, lot more than theirs today, in the end.
