First time I saw that scam was in Warsaw. Was with my Polish ex at the time, and she told

me to take a photo of the guy, then told him if we came back and there was anything wrong with the car, we'd take the photo to the police.

Obviously the fact there were three of us (her brother as well) and one of him meant he couldn't go for the camera, but it was a great way of dealing with it.
