There's quite a lot of them about

Just google it. I have something called OmniPage which came with my scanner and does a fairly good job. SimpleOCR is free, but I don't know how good or otherwise it is.

Be aware that no OCR program is 100% accurate - it depends on the quality of the document being scanned and the quality of the image.

I have spent a lot of time typing out documents from low-quality images of historical documents in poor condition (c. 400-500 pages). A few I have been able OCR, but you need to read through v carefully to pick up any mistakes it has made. In general, I have found it easiest to take the text output and simply dump it in Word without any formatting (Paste Special, Unformatted) and then spiff it up to make it look like the original.
