the thing about BBC news is that to me it seems like they try to cover too much ground

and inevitably are only capable of doing a really s**tty job of it. I never read their stuff because it's so shallow, badly written and riddled with errors.
You can almost always find much more complete versions of the same stories elsewhere, except more and more frequently they're subscription sites
