Worthy, but...
Anyone with any idea of football in general would have know that loaning two highly rated attacking players who so happen to be low on confidence and thus hungry to prove themselves would be a success.
Without Freak and Hucks we would have always been challenging around 6th place, which Worthy did achieve a few times (6th and 8th).
And there is something a bit off about his man-management also - two examples: Brennan is out in the cold for ages and comes back, and then dissappears, comes back again and then goes on a hiatus again, and wadya know he's back!... Crow comes in for a few matches, looks really promising, and then gets sold...
There must be an overactive "don't cross the boss" policy...
Worthy's tactics can be very weird too, and I don't think there needs to be any examples here.
Thing is, with Worthington - when he is good - he is VERY good... When he is bad, he is VERY bad.
I remember listening to rumour that Worthy, once installed as manager didn't quite sing to the same tune as Foley and Livermore, and that "one of them had to go"... Which didn't materialise and we settled down into a really good system.
I think that we need that again, someone needs to come in and have different ideas, and challenge decisions...
WORTHY IN! but he needs to have someone in to take him out of the comfort zone.
Failing that, I think Delia and the board needs to put some pressure on him.
We all said last season that Worthy was too comfortable (how many heaps of crap did we eat up every post-match interview?!) and that if we went down he would have to have some pressure applied.
Sorry for the nonsensical post... :/
