Norn Ireland's group included Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland & Czech Repiblic, who frankly are probably all better than any of the Republic's opponents other than Italy. And didn't Norn Ireland beat Spain in the last qualifying tournament while the Republic were going through the Staunton fiasco?
