Premier as a Closed Shop
The league has become a bit of a bore with money ruling the roost. The gulf has become too wide for most promoted teams to cover so what do you think of altering the promotion/relegationsystem? Heres my idea which I know would be shot down by established sides but would add more interest to the league and spread money over more teams at the top of the Championship.
1) 5 up, 5 down every year. That way the top 25 teams get a bite of the cherry once in a while rather than the top 23.
2) Top three in Championship get auto promotion. Lets admit it. Ipswich deserve to go up this year. 4th plays 7th. 5th plays 6th in a one off knockout. Winners go up.
3) Mid table lethargy in the Premier would be somewhat eliminated as Portsmouth, Blackburn and Fulham would still not be safe this year under this system.
