then back to between 3kbs and 12kbs and sharing that with 3 pcs in the house

In the end they sent a booster unit that screwed onto of the the phone line quad

At worst now it's 49kbs, which I can cope with. I wait and grab the connection when it's 200-400kbs, unless I really want something, then I leave the pc on over night
