it worked against wigan...

To me, this whole thing about 4-3-3/4-5-1 or whatever it is we were playing on Saturday and against Wigan was totally ridiculous. We were playing Wigan, who played two different teams in each half, who were obviously going to let us play more football than a meat'n'potatoes league one side playing 4-4-2. We win the game and all of a sudden we're flipping Ajax, total-footballing our way to the league one title.

I have got no idea why we set ourselves up to play Wigan like that when it's clear that it ain't gonna work in league one. It's grim to say but we needed two banks of four: solid stuff to build from. But no, we were miles too gung ho, one ball over the midfield beat us every time, and we're 3-0 down.

That is Gunn's fault. Butterworth's fault and Crook's fault. And the players' fault, obviously. But until we really think we have the team to roll over others with our own style and formation, then we go 4-4-2 and grind out the results. Which is what we should have done from the start, but then pre season wins got in the way.
