All the way up the A11, right up, get onto the ringroad

by whichever method you prefer - you can go over the bypass and along the newmarket road, or you can go left on the bypass and whizz along to the costessey turn, and in on the dereham road, get onto the ring road and turn left, follow that up past May & Bakerses and the sweetbriar, then left onto A140 Cromer Road when the signs say "Cromer"

No need to bother with Magdelen st at all. And if you do end up on Magdelen st, it' won't take you to Cromer - it'll take you up onto the ringy by sprowston where you'll need to turn left to get to the cromer road.
