The answer I got was

"To help the happiness of the counties children" (sic).

Whether charitable status was ever sought I have no idea because, as I say, that confirmed for me all I needed to know about the organisers.

Personally I wouldn't go near it. Interesting that once again it is being pushed on message boards, this time not, as far as I can see, claiming itself to be a charity, but rather linked to a charity.
