my problems are mainly about tactics etc

don't see how he can be blamed for the signings thing. It isn't always that easy to get the players you want and he's shown in the past he's happy to make multiple signings when available (August 2003).
But he doesn't seem to undertstand how the game has moved on since HE was playing in two main respects:
1) its about midfield now more than ever. that's why so many teams (eg Everton, Charlton) play 4-5-1. If you can control (or at least stifle) midfield you have a chance in every game. Worthy still thinks its about forwards and getting it up to them as quickly as possible.
2) Technical ability. The advent of so many foreign players has meant technical standards have shot up in the last 10 years. Especially at Prem level. There is no longer any place in the Prem for players like Flem & Holt who are whole-hearted but see the ball as their enemy. The number of games they played last year was utterly inexcusable. They should have been the first players replaced after Malky.
