the first iphone

I believe. Tried to stick normal earphones into the socket but they are too short/long (one of those) and so do not work. Unless I am wrong, which could be the case judging by everyones responses here. It was about a year ago I last tried but I remember being incensed when I tried to plug one of those tape cassette things into it so I could play it in the car and it didn't fit.
