There is a known issue with iphones draining the network signal,
apparently they drain the signal so that on the laptop you get piss poor internet. I'm not sure why or how but there is some way on most routers that you can set a specific channel for your iphone and a different on for your laptop. The best bet is to check the Apple Forums as I've heard the proper solution on there before. They're all well pens on there. Here you go:
