Yes.

I think its a mixture of things.

Mainly, Gunn wanted to give Rudd and Steer some serious minutes with the first team anyway as its obvious those two are backing up Theoklitos this year.
There is no pressure on them in Scotland if they make mistakes (which is going to happen)

I also think Gunn will have better idea who his "first 11"
back 4 over the next few games.

Another minor factor is probably fitness and sorting all the social stuff out, such as living arrangements.
The more settled he is, the more he cam concentrate on football.

Also we have another 5 pre-season games left against some stiffer opposition (CP, MU and Wigan).
So I am sure he will get plenty of minutes, with the Wigan game being close to the season starting 11.
