the Tour isn't about 190 riders riding two and a half thousand miles just to see who can do it the fastest.
It's a team sport, with loads of different disciplines and tactics. Who's the best team? Who's the best sprinter? Who's the best climber? Who's the best tactician? Who can sneak away from the pack and win a stage?
All those things and more are being fought over.
Of course if you don't find those questions interesting, then you won't like the Tour. That's like any sport. But the number of different contests going on at the same time is what gives it its richness.
Of course you're right about the drugs thing. I'd love to think it was now completely clean, but I doubt that's the case.
