I had a similar one some years back
A Krups, from Germany. I was thinking it would conform to the stereotypical image of German quality, and while it was well made, it wasn't good coffee that came out.
Mind you, a mate of mine has a similar one and is very happy with it.
I think, if you want good espresso, with steamed milk from a steamer, you have to pay a wedge. I bit the bullet about three years ago and got a Gaggia for about ?250. It's brilliant and the coffee is as good as you'd get in a proper cafe that does good coffee. As I've used it nigh-on every day since and it's never let me down (yet) I don't mind the cost.
