Well, Greenwich is way down the river and you need a train to get there

Tower Pier is, I guess, by the Tower of London/Tower Bridge, which is a bit further down the river but not as far as Greenwich and accessible by tube (Tower Hill). I suggest you get Google maps out and see which is best for you.
