IF you don?t have your own players when all about you
Are loaning theirs and dumping them on you,
If you still go to games when all men doubt you,
And come home wondering why you do;
If you can?t face another ?we owe the fans? headline,
Or being lied to, don't believe their lies,
Or being taunted, don?t give in to taunting,
By visiting fans, in their delight:

If you can?t dream ? there?s nothing left to hope for;
If you can?t think ? how we?re going to get out of this mess;
If you can meet with Blackpool and Southampton
And fail to beat those two impostors in a home game;
If you can?t bear to see the player we?ve loaned in
Twisted inside out as we conceded goals,
Or watch the ones you actually own, standing
Blaming one another like useless tools:

If you can count on one hand your away wins
yet need two for home games you lost,
And your leading scorer was a loanee
And was one of the few who seemed to give a toss,
If they didn?t force their heart and nerve and sinew
They don?t care, this summer they are gone,
And you?re left with the incompetent people,
Who have an urge which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you just sit in crowds hushed into silence,
' Or walk to the Kings ? bemoaning our bad luck,
if not just Bristol but even Forest can beat us,
If our team tried a bit, but none too much;
If you have watched the unforgiving opposition
Outplaying your team from minute one,
Yours is league one and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Norwich fan, my son!
