Hucks was carrying injuries - still - and Safri couldn't be arsed

Etuhu was a laughing-stock, McVeigh had the hump, Flem was showing the years and carrying a bad injury, we had the golden trio of Louis-Jean, Thorne, Hughes, and we certainly didn't have an "emerging" Martin - he didn't emerge until January.

I'll certainly give you Duff Jimmy - and being very well-known in Scotland he largely went with what he knew, from the people that he knew. But had it worked, a la Roberto Martinez at Swansea, with no managerial or coaching experience whatsoever, his appointment would have been hailed as a masterstroke - until it all went wrong, as appointments in football very generally do, sooner or later.
