my rod's 2.4m (about 7 feet, i reckon).
the lures seemed to float. The water was quite choppy and i think they just got dragged onto rocks.
I was casting out about 10m to where there was some white foam and then slowly reeling in, lifting and lowering the rod as I did so.

Can't afford a longer rod at the moment, so maybe I need to be casting into areas where there are fewer rocks.
