Anfield Memorial service,
Morning all!
My first post since my return from my various trips. Just been reading with interest some of the posts down the board about the Hillsborough disaster. Maybe living on Merseyside you kind of get caught up in what is happening today and remembering the tragic events in 89. I was at our game that day with my Grandad and even though I was fairly young at the time and didn't really understand entirely what was going on, my biggest memory was on the coach on the way back. Everyone sat in complete silence listening to the radio and a few women were in tears. When we got home and saw the images on TV it was pretty shocking.
One of my best mates up here is an Evertonian and he lost his uncle that day. We are both going to Anfield this afternoon to pay our respects to the 96 and we will both lay a Norwich and an Everton scarf at the memorial. I don't particularly like the majority of Liverpool fans but on a day like today football doesn't matter.
96 football fans lost their lives that day, both them and their familes deserve a bit of respect no matter who you support. Today is not about football or it's rivalries. Some people need to grow up and show some respect.

- Good post. Those who choose today of all days to point the finger are crass. (n/m) (Other Football) - Buckscanary, Apr 15, 12:07:08
