They want him to stay for a long time. Unfortunately Grant was an unequalled failure in everything he did and HAD to go, Roeder for some unknown reason caused huge ill feeling with the fans and the board were left with no choice but to remove him (poisonous atmosphere at carrow road).
Replace Gunn (or any other less vile man) with Roeder and give him exactly the same results and performances and the hostile anti manager feeling wouldn't have been there and he would probably have seen out the poor period that Glenn couldn't. As has been said, we didn't play that many awful matches under Roeder but he'd lost the fans in a major way.
