Well it depends what you buy. I bought a 5 year old

2L Volvo V40 with 72K on the clock 4 years ago. It's now done 154K and has cost me nowt but tyres and a zaust.
If you do 20K miles a year you need something a lot bigger than a Corsa or it will only last, err, 3 years
