There's much much more in the book. Which I won't spoil here.

The structure is the same, in that each chapter is for each of the questions on the show, and each question has a little bit of his life story to explain how he knows the answer.

There's a big plot twist at the end of the book which isn't in the film in any way.

There's no Latika character in the book (but there is a love interest character), Salim isn't his brother, he's his friend. Moreover the dynamic between Salim and Jamal is changed so that in the book Jamal is the older one who has to look out for Salim. More to the point, the main lad's name isn't Jamal, it's Ram Mohammed Thomas - one name from each of the major religions in India - which is an artifact of his upbringing by an English missionary priest - another thing completely omitted from the book.
