new 20p coin error
New Style 20p Coin - No Date
Very rare 2008 new design 20p coin (the ones that show part of a shield on the back), which has no date. This is a legal tender coin. The Royal Mint made a mistake for the first time in 25 years and have not dated a very small amount of these coins.
A quote from A Royal Mint spokesperson said..
"The Royal Mint can confirm that a small number of new design 20 pence coins have been incorrectly struck using the obverse from the previous design, resulted in these coins having no date.
?The issue has now been resolved and the Royal Mint would like to reassure members of the public that these coins are legal tender.
No more of these coins will ever be made making this a very rare coin!!!
Only 100,000 (the very first batch) were made before they noticed the fault so will be worth a few bob in the future.
