But no board member at any other club in this division would have been able to get away without those clauses. So whilst you may look for blame in this situation, the only thing you can blame is the player and modern football.
No club could have held onto Ashton either. Are you seriously saying you think we should have held onto him against his will, turning down ?7 million in the process? Are you seriously suggesting it's the boards fault that clubs at this level have to struggle constantly for money?
