Pondering

What one earth has happened to our great club. We were really the first club to utilize the loan system getting in Harper, Hucks and Crouch whihc turned a mediorcre mid-table team to a championship winning team. Its hard to pin-point the rot , you could go with the what-ifs we had signed a decent stricker when we got promoted. But hey we took those player back down to the Chapionship with us and I don't are for excuses but by half-time that season we were not topping the table, Ashton was flogged Earnie came in and set our world on fire. Green left, defenders didn't perform and so forth and so forth. I think money is the crucial point, money has not been invested wisely in the team. That fault lies not just with the boarcd but previous managers. If by some miracle we stay up we are back to square one again- no money no squad how do we compete? Yes use the youth team but we need experiance. When Roedant let Hucks go and Dubbers retired we lost two crucial players - two players who could have really made a difference to the squad this year. If we do end up relegated (whihc I think I have nearly come to terms with) the prospects are even worse, less gate recipts, sponsourship means less oney on players less quality and an even harder time getting up. All I have to say is look at the likes of Oldham, Swindon even Leeds! people point to Leiscetr but hey, we don't have Milan Mandriacs pockets behind us....What ever happens at the end of the season the board need to sit down and see within their hearts if they as people can continue to support a club in freefall which desperatly needs significant investment. If they can't, then its time to pick up the phone and speak to Mr Cullum before our great club becomes just 'another' league football club languisihng in the lower reaches.
