camcorder help

Im looking at buying myself a camcorder shortly.
Anyone got one?
whats the bests one to get.
Looking at spending max of about ?250.
What is the best type to get i.e dvd, memory card or tape?

the main reason to get the camera, is to record pictures of my 2 little boys and then send a copy by DVD to grand parents
