No - Cheddar is a hard mature cheese, and Brie is soft and creamy.
The supermarkets are even more expensive for "British" produce. When the Brits started coming over, the supermarkets found that if they got some British stuff in, they could flog it at a ridiculous mark up to the fecktards who couldn't do without Colmans Mint Sauce etc.
Now, although the French have their own versions, and there's loads of English produce shops, but the supermarkets haven't realised that the Brits are far cannier shoppers than the locals.
