Ryan issues a rallying call to Rovers fans ahead of tomorrows clash at the Keepmoat against Norwich City
DONCASTER Rovers' chairman John Ryan is hoping that Tuesday's win at Bramall Lane will be reflected in the gate for tomorrow's Championship six-pointer against Norwich City at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Ryan is hoping for a gate around the 11,000 mark for the Canaries' first visit to Doncaster for 50 years.
"Norwich won't bring many with it being a Friday night game so it would be nice to see all the Doncaster part of the ground full."
"We have got 8,000 season ticket holders so we need to attract another 3,500," he said last night.
"I know a lot of people will be going to Villa Park for the replay next Wednesday.
"But the Norwich game is more important than the Cup game because if we beat them we'll go above them in the table and staying in this division has always being our main priority."
Still on a high after seeing Rovers climb out of the relegation zone for the first time since September after beating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane for the first time on Tuesday night, Ryan said: "Has there ever been a better time to be a Doncaster Rovers' supporter?
"We've got players who attract multi-million pound bids on the transfer market and I would have thought that people would want to come and watch fabulous players such as Mills, Stock, Wellens and others.
"It is not just the fact that we are winning games - we've wonour last four league games - it is the style with which we are doing and the credit must go to manager Sean O'Driscoll."
Having said previously that he settle for fourth bottom, Ryan is now setting his sights higher.
"I think that we may finish at least 15th," he said.
"But more importantly, if we can make the right acquisitions then I think that we could be a heck of a force in the Championship next season.
"I've not seen any team who have been really impressive in this division and we've competed well with the likes of Reading, Birmingham and Wolves."
Rovers made the first of what Ryan hopes will be the first of several signings in the transfer window yesterday when securing the services of striker Steve Brooker.
