Just had a phone call from Neil Doncaster
No joke. I sent an e mail this morning to the club, some may agree with it some may not. I then got a very unexpected call from Neil Doncaster which I thought was very good of him. I think more details of the meeting may come out but basically I was told the ?20million would have to pay the debts off (RBOS insisted this) if Peter Cullum wanted overall control, leaving nothing for Glenn so it was not just a case of the club snubbing the money. He also agreed it has divided the fans and that new players ARE on the way. I said this season has to better than last, obvious I know. Anyway, here's the email:
Dear Sirs,
I am writing to you for the first time ever as I feel totally disheartened with the current status of my beloved club. I have been a supporter for over 30 years as well as a member and shareholder, but for quite a while now I feel the club is going in the wrong direction if indeed any direction at all.
Having read the rather short ?Joint Statement? this morning on the website I simply cannot believe that an offer of ?20 million investment has been so easily snubbed, I would have thought that with the huge debts we have and a pathetically thin squad this sort of money would be extremely welcome. Of course I don?t know the full details of what has been offered, but where on earth will we ever get such an opportunity for such a wealthy fan to invest in the club. Will the board be releasing more details of the offer, especially to share holders, or will you be keeping your normal wall of silence on the subject?
I believe this has started to divide fans and unless answers are given it can only get worse, especially if results do not go well on the pitch (which sadly I think they will due to the poor squad we currently have). I only hope I?m proved wrong but after only 2 signings, one a free and the other for peanuts, I simply cannot see us doing anything again next season. This is the first time I?ve ever been pessimistic about a squad.
I shall of course be supporting the team through thick and thin next season, but I fear my enthusiasm for the board and their handling of Mr. Cullum has been poor to say the least. Please remember Delia & Co. it?s the fans that make the club, it isn?t your play thing to do what you like with it. People can turn very quickly.
