Greatest Ever: Who are they trying to kid?

This Doncaster article is very interesting. Putting to one side the utterly desperate attempt to drum up more ticket sales ("bookings can be made online... or by calling..."), it is clear that even he is admitting it has an image problem.
Let's not mince our words here, where Doncaster gropes around the truth with phrases like; "not everyone yet fully understands what this event is all about and who it is aimed at", the rest of us have a more succinct appraisal of its merits... "WHAT'S THE BLOODY POINT?"
For those who don't know, let me put this "groundbreaking and novel concept" in to some kind of context. Don't imagine for one second that the powers that be at Carrow Road charitably dreamt up an idea for an event that "opens the club's heritage up to a much wider audience".
'Greatest Ever' are a company who have been peddling this event to clubs up and down the country for the past six years or so with one very attractive selling point: "Get the fans to come along and we'll make a big bag of cash for us and for you. Cheers!"
Now in itself, raising funds for the club is no bad thing. It's often to be applauded. But here's the rub - how much have the club taken in to consideration the desire of football fans to turn up for something that isn't actually football?
Now I'm not sure how many tickets need to be sold for the event to not to make a big loss, let alone come close to breaking even - but it MUST cost in the tens of thousands to stage something on this scale, which suggests that thousands of tickets must be sold.
Have they been? Will they be? All sounds a little desperate to me and the appropriation of Norwich City's heritage by what appears to be an X-Factor roadshow is frankly f**king bizarre. An admission that thousands of supporters absolutely WON'T turn up just to see players. Thousands of supporters turn up to watch FOOTBALL and football alone.
Doncaster's article is desperate and I'm not surprised. If you ask me, 'Greatest Ever' is an ill-conceived, incoherent and incongruous waste of everyone's time.
