Lightning strikes & telephones

I think our phone cables suffered a lightning strike yesterday, cos we came home to find our phone socket blown off the wall and in pieces all over the floor, and the poor wireless route looking a bit scorched.
Anyone ever experienced this before? I'm guessing lightning is an 'act of God' and we cant claim for any damage...
