FAO Anon Blonde and camcan - advice needed.

Whilst we have some real ladies on, rather then the ladyboys who normally infest this board, a bit of advice please.
When a man of, ahem, advancing years is in a relationship with a woman, what should he refer to her as? Girlfriend always seems daft at my age and "ladyfriend" is a bit twee. We don't live together so "partner" is not really apposite and just "friend" usually implies gayness. Just wondering if you had any ideas.
