Fuck me he's BACK!!!

The sun shone warmly in the old stone courtyard. The chat of the firing squad receded into the distance as the men of Delia's Storm Troopers, their brutal work done, fell out and returned to their mess room for an isotonic drink. Only the distant chirping of a grasshopper broke the silence.

And on the dusty ground lay Hendrikus. His crumpled body was still. Very still.

A fly buzzed round the lifeless form, circled cautiously and settled.

Then it happened.

Slowly - so slowly that it was all but imperceptible - one eyelid in the motionless face opened, just the tiniest crack. One of those brilliant, piercing blue eyes - the eyes that had set so many hearts a-flutter in the WAAF room back in dear old Blighty - peered out.

The courtyard was empty.

Hendrikus gathered himself. It had been a chance - a hell of a chance - but he had gambled, and he had won. He had known that most of Worthy's strikeforce would miss - the range had been all of 20 paces, and most of them couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo at point blank. But he had known that the new recruit - Deano, they called him - wore the crossed oakleaves of a real sharpshooter. Would this man go for the head shot or the heart? That had been the gamble. And Hendrikus had concealed in his tunic breast the solid silver hipflask given to him by his grandfather, who had carried it through many a campaign in the battlefields of Portaloo, and placed it over his heart. Deano's aim had been true and straight - and right to the heart. Hendrikus could still feel the tip of the bullet protruding through the silver and piercing his skin. That was lucky, he thought. There was just enough blood to be convincing.

He gathered his strength, and with one sinuous movement the lithe body coiled, sprang, vaulted the wall and disappeared.

Hendrikus was back from the dead. And he fully intended to carry on his mission ...
