Sunderland was a shame, cos they weren't playing hoof ball

I know this will sound ridiculous, but I heard someone say it on the radio last week as well, but sunderland didn't actually play some bad football last year. They were creating chances and passing the ball about very well (a lot coming from the vastly under rated Whitehead)

They just didn't have the fire power up front, and they made some pretty bad mistakes at the back, meaning although they played well, they'd still lose 2-0

McCarthy got sacked playing decent footy, but didn't have the prem standard to compete with the others (wigan did cos they spent a lot of money)

My lasting memory of mccarthy getting the boot was watching sunderland lose to man city away, and the man city bloke on fanzone constantly saying he thought sunderland should be winning and will still equalise

Sunderland were my tip to win this league cos they still kept the core that played good footy last year, whitehead has stay which I can't believe, and how they got kavanagh to drop from the prem to champ level I'll never know

But I think they could romp this league once they've got confidence and settled
