Player ratings

Gallacher - 4 - careless mud to the knee in the first half, and allowed his collar to flap in the wind, and took no care of those gloves you've no idea how long it takes to iron those
Colin - 3 - more running means more sweating and the young man just needs to temper his exuberance enough to take care of his kitwear
Drury - 5 - better, though the creases in his shorts weren't really visible after half time at allnow
Shackell - 6 - landed carefully each time so as not to scuff the finish on the side of his boots
Doherty - 7 - the one player who understood the importance of getting the ball forward, where only two or three home kits are at danger of adverse pitch-soil, as opposed to when it's in our half when there's far too much running around really, inevitably affecting the line of the shirt.
Safri - 7 - I like his direct shots on goal, again designed to avoid excessive wear and tear on the kits by running too close
Etuhu - 3 - I don't know what's happened to him, far too much legwork exposing the seam of his shorts to danger of damage, bobbling or sweat staining. He was much better last season when he just stood around.
Robinson - 6 - again did too much for me, though I did like the way he vanished every now and again - secretly I slipped him a small travel iron and he was just taking the creases out of his gusset, I don't think anyone noticed
Croft - 2 - now what on earth is the new lad on, totally reckless, running all the time with risk of sweat damage, mud staining, increased body temperature leading to stress fractures of the underarm hem, and what that ball's done to the nice finish on his - brand new!!! - boots it'll take me all week to sort out, and me with another game to help the gaffer wash and iron for on Saturday!
Huckerby - 3 - again far too much running, and that silly hair stuff he wears plays the devil with the collar as well, we have to buy Vanish just for his shirt, you know
Earnshaw - 7 - although he did score he kept his kit nicely preserved for most of the game. Good on you, Earnie!

SUBS

McVeigh 7 - The shorter the player, the less ironing for me and the gaffer to get through, the more shirts get in the machine, and the less fabric conditioner to worry about - all adds up and we have to assess the environmental impact these days as well, you know
Fleming - 5 - not on for very long but showed encouraging signs of warning all the players to look after their shirts and not let them crease (at least that's what I assume he was shouting at them)
McKenzie - 7 - Just a little light jogging, left his kit spotless - good man!
