I didn't imagine that anyone thought Sutton should be paid *purely* on PAYG, but then this is Wrath of the Barclay.... ;-)

I think that older players will increasingly be paid a basic minimum topped up by PAYG as clubs want to limit their financial liability. I think Sutton falls into this catagory, but I don't think the consideration is financial here, it's a decision made on other criteria.
