I reckon he was taken for the ride, and that was it. There was never an intention to play him, he was just there for the future of English football, for him to gain and learn from a massive opportunity, which could propell him into the premiership next year, or the year after

The stupid point of doing that was, England only took 3 strikers to the world cup, one got injured and the sent off

When Englands squad was announced, the whole country gasped

That should never happen again, if it does, the Fa should step in and make a manager take a certain amount of strikers
