It's surprising, seeing as agents tell players to do it.

Seriously though, you have to earn the right to do it. It's not enough to just turn up at a new club and just start all this badge-kissing, fist-pumping nonsense - it's so transparently phoney and I don't buy it for a second.

If (say) Green or Huckerby - players who have given us several years of good service, have stuck with the club when they could have left (and yes, I know Green is about to leave, but he stuck with us over the summer, and could have left during the Prem campaign) - decide to show some rapport with the fans, fair enough - they've earned it.

Hughes hasn't - he's turned up, shouted a bit, had one or two games that have been less awful than his other games and just hopes he can win over the fans with this constant clapping to cover his glaring deficiencies. Sorry Maisey, I respect your opinion but I think it's bulls**t (Hughes's 'passion', not your opinion).
